ACTED

Description

Created in 1993, ACTED is a non-governmental organization with a mission to provide immediate humanitarian relief to support those in urgent need and protect people’s dignity, while co-creating longer term opportunities for sustainable growth and the realization of people’s potential. ACTED provides tailored support to local needs by breaking down silos through an area-based approach and the complementary use of different aid instruments. Building on the Sustainable Development Goals commitments and its historic programming in line with these goals, ACTED developed its 3Zero vision to promote new approaches to contemporary challenges, which aims to radically reshape the way individuals, businesses and communities live, work and interact. Since 2012, ACTED Philippines possesses a strong expertise in the response to natural disasters and also engages in the support to social cohesion and sustainable development, and intervenes with capacity building of local organizations, promotion of inter-religious and inter-community dialogue, training of media practitioners, and organization of Quick Impact Projects to prevent conflict and mainstream tolerance and non-discrimination. Finally, ACTED supports rural development, income enhancement and market channel creation, benefitting farmer communities in Luzon Island. ACTED currently counts 1 million beneficiaries and supports 21 civil society organizations in the country.
